How to Compare Perfume Prices and Find the Best Deal

Why perfume prices vary, how to use price per ml and shipping, and how Scentswap ranks real retailer offers.

Scentswap Editorial 7 min read Published Updated

Perfume prices look simple until you notice that two “same” bottles differ in size, concentration, shipping cost, or product type. A fair comparison looks beyond the headline number. Scentswap’s price comparison is built to surface real retailer offers and rank them by price — never by commission.

Why perfume prices vary

Retailers operate in different countries, buy through different channels, and run different promotions. Currency, taxes, stock timing, and competition all move the shelf price. Grey-market and authorised prices can diverge. Variation alone is normal; what matters is comparing equivalent products.

Bottle size differences

A 30 ml bottle can look cheaper than 100 ml while costing more per millilitre. Always note the volume printed on the offer. Scentswap shows size alongside price so you can judge value, not only the sticker amount.

EDT vs EDP

Eau de Toilette and Eau de Parfum are different products even when they share a fragrance name. Mixing them in one ranking would distort “best price.” Compare matching concentrations. For background, see EDT vs EDP.

Price per millilitre

Price per ml is the quickest way to compare different sizes of the same concentration and product type. It is less useful when you are choosing between a full bottle and a tiny sample, or when you only need a travel size. Use it as a tool, not the only decision factor.

Shipping costs

A low product price can disappear once delivery is added. Where Scentswap knows shipping for your delivery country, delivered total includes that cost. Unknown shipping is never treated as free. Always check the retailer’s checkout terms for remote areas, islands, or express options.

Retailer availability

Not every fragrance appears at every shop. Some pages may show a single valid offer; others show several. Scentswap only displays offers that meet matching and freshness rules. If you see one retailer, that is the honest current picture — not a promise of wider coverage.

Testers, gift sets, and special formats

Testers often cost less and may arrive without decorative packaging. Gift sets bundle extras that change value. Miniatures, refills, and decants are different again. Rankings on Scentswap prioritise clear like-for-like comparison and visually distinguish product types so a tester is not silently treated as a standard retail bottle.

Discounts and promotions

Seasonal sales, coupon codes, and loyalty prices change quickly. An imported offer reflects the price captured at the last successful check. Always confirm the live checkout price on the retailer’s site before you buy.

Retailer reputation

Price is only part of the decision. Consider return policies, packaging standards, and whether the shop is a retailer you trust. Scentswap links out to the shop; we do not sell the perfume ourselves.

How to compare identical products fairly

  1. Match brand, fragrance name, and flanker (not a similarly named sibling).
  2. Match concentration (EDT, EDP, Parfum, and so on).
  3. Match bottle size and product type (standard, tester, set).
  4. Compare delivered totals to your country where shipping is known.
  5. Check stock status and how recently the price was updated.

Cheapest shelf price is not always cheapest delivered

Sort by delivered total when shipping data is available. A slightly higher product price with cheap or free delivery can win. When shipping is unknown, compare product price cautiously and verify delivery costs at checkout.

How Scentswap actually compares offers

Offers come from connected retailers through the site’s import and matching pipeline. Matched products that are fresh enough and confident enough are shown. Ranking is price-based: commission does not change order. You can read the full explanation on the retailers and ranking page.

Use comparison to decide where to buy new bottles. For pre-owned bottles, samples, and swaps, browse the marketplace separately — retail and community offers are never mixed into one ranking.
